Word First Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Word First is a devotional reading and focus application published by Land Run Brands, LLC ("Word First," "Land Run Brands," "we," "us," or "our").

Most personal devotional information created in Word First remains on your device. Optional features—including Companions, subscriptions, and advertising measurement—require limited information to be processed by Apple or other service providers.

Disclosure of app-event or device information to TikTok and Meta may be considered "sharing," "targeted advertising," or "cross-context behavioral advertising" under certain privacy laws, even though we do not sell that information for money.

2. Scope

This policy applies to:

• The Word First iOS application and its extensions.
• The Companions feature.
• The Word First website at wordfirst.app.
• Support requests and privacy requests submitted to Land Run Brands.

Third-party services are also governed by their own privacy policies.

3. Information Word First processes

A. Devotional and reading information

Depending on the features you use, Word First may store:

• Reading history and completion status.
• Reading schedule and preferred reading time.
• Selected season, topic, Bible translation, or mood.
• Saved verses, highlights, bookmarks, and collections.
• Reflections or journal entries you write.
• Unlock and reading-progress information.
• Notification and widget preferences.

This information is generally stored locally on your device. We do not send this personal devotional content to TikTok, Meta, or RevenueCat.

Because religious or devotional activity may reveal sensitive beliefs, we deliberately exclude this content from advertising event payloads.

B. Screen Time and app-blocking information

If you use Word First's app-blocking feature, Apple's Family Controls framework provides Word First with opaque application or category tokens.

Word First does not receive the names, contents, messages, browsing history, or activity inside the selected applications. The opaque tokens and related settings are stored locally in the app's shared iOS container so Word First's Screen Time extensions can apply your selections.

C. Companions information

Companions is optional and requires Sign in with Apple and Apple CloudKit.

When you use Companions, Word First may process:

• Your Sign in with Apple or CloudKit user record identifier.
• Your first name or chosen display name.
• Ring names and ring identifiers.
• Invite codes and their creation or expiration dates.
• Ring membership and Companion relationships.
• Whether reading-status sharing is enabled.
• The day on which a reading was completed.
• A devotional identifier.
• A completion timestamp, which may be rounded for privacy.

Companions are intended to see your display name and whether you completed a reading. They are not intended to see your private reflections, saved verses, highlights, blocked-app selections, subscription status, or other private devotional information.

Companions information is stored in Apple's CloudKit infrastructure. Some relationship and activity records use the public database within Word First's CloudKit container so invited members can synchronize activity. Do not enter private journal content into Companion names, ring names, or other shared fields.

Leaving a ring stops future sharing with that ring. Previously shared information may remain temporarily in CloudKit records, backups, or another member's existing device cache until it is deleted or expires.

D. Sign in with Apple

Sign in with Apple is used for Companions. Apple provides Word First with an app-specific identifier and, when made available, a name.

Word First does not currently use Facebook Login and does not receive your Facebook or Instagram profile, friends list, posts, or account credentials.

Disconnecting Sign in with Apple prevents future authentication but does not automatically delete all information already stored in Word First's CloudKit container. See the data deletion instructions below.

E. Purchases and subscriptions

Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. Word First does not receive your full payment-card number, bank account, or billing credentials.

We use RevenueCat to validate purchases, manage subscription entitlements, restore purchases, and determine whether premium features should be available. RevenueCat may process:

• An anonymous app-user identifier.
• Apple receipt and transaction information.
• Product and subscription identifiers.
• Purchase, renewal, expiration, cancellation, and restore information.
• App version, device type, operating system, locale, IP address, and last-seen time.

RevenueCat acts as a service provider for Word First's subscription management. RevenueCat states that its end-user information can include device details, Apple receipt information, transaction details, and optional attribution metadata. Apple may retain purchase records as required for transaction history, accounting, fraud prevention, tax, and legal compliance. Cancelling a subscription does not delete those purchase records.

F. TikTok advertising measurement

Word First uses the TikTok App Events SDK to measure the effectiveness of Word First advertising campaigns.

Depending on SDK configuration and your device settings, TikTok may receive:

• An app installation or first-open event.
• An app-launch event.
• A subscription purchase or renewal event.
• Product identifier, price, value, currency, and transaction-related metadata.
• Event date and time.
• App version and build number.
• Device model, operating-system version, locale, and time zone.
• IP address, network information, user agent, session identifiers, and app-scoped device identifiers.
• Advertising identifier, such as IDFA, only when permitted by Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework and applicable law.
• Limited diagnostic information needed to operate or troubleshoot the SDK.

TikTok may use app-event information for attribution, measurement, campaign reporting, advertising optimization, audience creation, retargeting, fraud prevention, security, and improvement of its advertising services.

Word First disables TikTok enhanced data postback. We do not intentionally allow TikTok to collect screen text, button labels, devotional content, reflections, prayers, mood selections, blocked-app selections, or Companion information.

G. Meta advertising measurement

Word First uses the Meta SDK for App Events to measure advertising on Facebook, Instagram, and other Meta services.

Depending on SDK configuration and your device settings, Meta may receive:

• An app installation or first-open event.
• An app activation or launch event.
• A subscription purchase or renewal event.
• Product identifier, purchase value, currency, and limited event parameters.
• Event date and time.
• App version, device type, operating-system version, locale, and time zone.
• IP address, network information, session information, and app-scoped device identifiers.
• Advertising identifier, such as IDFA, only when permitted by Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework and applicable law.
• Limited diagnostic information needed to operate or troubleshoot the SDK.

Meta may use app-event information for attribution, advertising measurement, analytics, campaign optimization, audience creation, retargeting, fraud prevention, security, research, and improvement of Meta products.

Word First does not use Facebook Login and does not intentionally send Meta your name, email address, phone number, Facebook profile, devotional selections, reflections, prayers, mood data, blocked-app selections, or Companion information. Advanced matching and collection of screen content are not enabled.

Meta's Business Tools Terms describe app installations and purchases as event data and allow that data to be used for measurement, analytics, and advertising-related services. Meta states that event data may generally be retained for up to two years under those terms. See the Meta Business Tools Terms and Meta Privacy Policy.

H. App Tracking Transparency

When required, Word First uses Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission prompt before enabling access to IDFA or advertising tracking that requires permission.

If you select Ask App Not to Track, Word First will not authorize TikTok or Meta to access IDFA through Word First. Apple's privacy-preserving attribution systems and limited measurement that does not use IDFA may still operate.

You can change the permission later under:

iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → Word First

Changing this setting affects future access. It may not delete information previously transmitted.

I. Notifications and widgets

If you permit notifications, Word First generally schedules devotional reminders locally on your device. Notification preferences and widget content may be stored in the app's local or shared container.

Apple may process device and delivery information as part of operating iOS notification services.

J. Support communications

If you contact us, we receive the email address or other contact information you use, the contents of your message, attachments you provide, and information necessary to respond.

K. Website and links

When you visit wordfirst.app or open a Word First universal link, our hosting provider may automatically process standard web-server information such as:

• IP address.
• Browser and device type.
• Requested page or link.
• Date and time.
• Referring page.
• Security and error logs.

We also use Google Analytics 4 on the wordfirst.app website to understand how the site is used. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies or similar identifiers and may process:

• Pages viewed, time on page, and navigation paths.
• Referring source, campaign parameters, and outbound link clicks.
• Approximate location derived from IP address, at city level or broader.
• Browser, device type, operating system, screen size, and language.
• A randomly generated client or session identifier.

Google Analytics runs only on the website. It is not present in the iOS application and receives no readings, reflections, prayers, saved verses, mood selections, blocked-app selections, or Companion information. IP addresses are anonymized by Google Analytics 4 by default. See the Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites that use our services.

You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites using Google's browser opt-out add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser settings. Blocking analytics cookies does not affect your ability to use the site.

If you use an iOS share sheet, information is shared with the application or person you select. Their handling of that information is governed by their own policies.

4. How we use information

We use information to:

• Provide devotional reading, progress, reminders, widgets, and app-blocking features.
• Synchronize optional Companion relationships and reading completion.
• Authenticate Companion users.
• Process, validate, restore, and manage subscriptions.
• Provide customer support.
• Maintain security, prevent fraud, and diagnose technical problems.
• Measure whether advertising resulted in an install or subscription.
• Understand how visitors use the wordfirst.app website.
• Analyze and optimize Word First advertising campaigns.
• Comply with legal, tax, accounting, and regulatory obligations.
• Enforce our terms and protect users, Word First, and others.

We do not use private reflections or devotional content for advertising.

5. Legal bases for processing

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on:

• Performance of a contract: to provide the app, subscriptions, and features you request.
• Consent: for optional permissions, Companion participation, and advertising tracking where consent is required.
• Legitimate interests: to secure, maintain, support, and improve the service and measure our business operations, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
• Legal obligations: for accounting, tax, fraud prevention, lawful requests, and regulatory compliance.

You may withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal does not make earlier processing unlawful.

6. How information is disclosed

Information may be disclosed to:

• Apple: App Store distribution, StoreKit purchases, Sign in with Apple, iCloud, CloudKit, Screen Time, notifications, device services, and privacy-preserving attribution.
• RevenueCat: purchase validation, entitlement management, subscription analytics, and customer support.
• TikTok: advertising attribution, measurement, reporting, campaign optimization, and related advertising services.
• Meta: advertising attribution, measurement, reporting, campaign optimization, audiences, and related advertising services.
• Google: website analytics through Google Analytics 4, including page views, referral sources, and approximate location derived from IP address.
• Website and infrastructure providers: hosting, security, logging, and content delivery.
• Professional advisers or authorities: when reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce agreements, prevent harm, or protect legal rights.
• A successor organization: if Land Run Brands is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, or sale of assets, subject to applicable law.

We require service providers to process information according to their agreements and applicable law.

7. Sale, sharing, and targeted advertising

Word First does not sell personal information for money.

Word First's disclosure of app-event and device information to TikTok and Meta for campaign measurement, audience creation, retargeting, or optimization may qualify as "sharing," "targeted advertising," or "cross-context behavioral advertising" under certain laws.

You may:

• Deny or disable tracking through Apple's App Tracking Transparency settings.
• Manage activity associated with your Meta account through Meta's Your activity off Meta technologies controls.
• Opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser opt-out add-on, or block analytics cookies in your browser.
• Submit an opt-out request to apps@landrunbrands.com with the subject Privacy Opt-Out — Word First.

Meta explains that its controls can disconnect past off-Meta activity from an account, although this does not necessarily delete the underlying event from every system. See Meta's activity controls.

Word First does not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.

8. Data retention

We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including legal, accounting, security, fraud-prevention, and dispute-resolution requirements.

Generally:

• Local devotional information remains until you delete it or uninstall Word First.
• Companions information remains until you leave, delete your Companions account, request deletion, or an applicable cleanup process removes it.
• Expired or redeemed invite records may remain temporarily in backups or operational records.
• Support communications are retained as reasonably necessary to answer the request and maintain appropriate business records.
• Website security logs are retained for a limited operational period.
• Google Analytics data is retained according to the retention period configured in the property, up to Google's maximum.
• RevenueCat, Apple, TikTok, Google, and Meta retain information according to their agreements, policies, and legal obligations.
• Aggregated or deidentified information that cannot reasonably identify you may be retained longer.

9. Data deletion instructions

This section serves as Word First's standard user-data deletion instructions, including instructions for users referred from Meta's App Dashboard.

Delete local Word First information

You may delete individual reflections, saved items, highlights, and collections using the applicable controls inside Word First.

To remove information stored locally by Word First and its extensions, delete the Word First application from your device. Information restored from an iCloud or device backup may reappear if the backup still contains it.

Deleting the app does not automatically cancel a subscription or delete CloudKit, RevenueCat, TikTok, Meta, or Apple transaction records.

Delete a Companions account

Open:

Word First → Settings → Companions → Delete Companions Account

This removes local Companion state and begins removing associated Companion relationships.

For complete deletion of associated CloudKit records—including profile, invitation, membership, ring, relationship, and reading-event records—also email apps@landrunbrands.com with the subject Data Deletion Request — Word First.

Include your first name or display name and, if known, a ring name or recent invite code. Do not include your Apple password.

Leaving a ring stops future sharing with that ring but is not the same as deleting the entire Companions account.

Request deletion from Land Run Brands and its providers

Email apps@landrunbrands.com with the subject Data Deletion Request — Word First.

Tell us which information you want deleted, such as:

• Companions and CloudKit information.
• Support communications.
• RevenueCat subscription profile information.
• TikTok app-event information.
• Meta app-event information.
• Google Analytics website information.
• All Word First information reasonably associated with you.

We may ask for limited additional information or in-app confirmation to verify that the request relates to you. Verification protects users from unauthorized deletion.

After verification, we will:

1. Delete or deidentify information directly controlled by Land Run Brands, unless retention is required or permitted by law.
2. Submit appropriate deletion instructions to service providers acting on our behalf.
3. Tell you when the request has been completed or explain any applicable exception.

Some information may remain in encrypted backups until those backups are overwritten. We may retain records necessary for legal obligations, fraud prevention, security, transaction history, or proof that we honored the request. Information controlled independently by Apple, TikTok, Meta, or another provider may also be subject to that provider's own privacy processes.

We will respond within the period required by applicable law.

Manage or cancel a subscription

Cancel or manage a Word First subscription through:

iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Word First

Cancelling prevents future renewals but does not automatically refund earlier charges or delete purchase records.

Disconnect Sign in with Apple

You may manage Sign in with Apple through your Apple Account settings under:

iOS Settings → [your name] → Sign-In & Security → Sign in with Apple

Disconnecting Word First prevents future Sign in with Apple authentication. It does not by itself guarantee deletion of existing CloudKit or Companion records; use the deletion request process above for complete deletion.

Manage Meta activity

If Meta has associated Word First events with your Facebook or Instagram account, you may also manage or disconnect that activity through:

Accounts Center → Your information and permissions → Your activity off Meta technologies

You may still submit a deletion request directly to Word First regardless of whether you have a Meta account.

10. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Know whether we process your personal information.
• Access categories or copies of your information.
• Correct inaccurate information.
• Request deletion.
• Receive portable information where applicable.
• Restrict or object to certain processing.
• Withdraw consent.
• Opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or certain profiling.
• Appeal a decision concerning a privacy request.
• Use an authorized agent.
• Receive equal service and pricing after exercising your rights.

Submit requests to apps@landrunbrands.com. We may verify your identity and authority before completing a request.

Residents of the European Economic Area or United Kingdom may also complain to their local data-protection authority.

11. Children's privacy

Word First is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

We do not intentionally send information known to relate to a child under 13 to TikTok or Meta. If you believe a child has provided personal information through Word First, contact apps@landrunbrands.com so we can investigate and delete it as appropriate.

Word First's Screen Time feature uses individual authorization and is not intended to be a parental-monitoring service.

12. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information we process. These include iOS application sandboxing, Apple-provided security controls, encrypted network connections, access controls, and service-provider security measures.

No storage or transmission method is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

13. International processing

Apple, RevenueCat, TikTok, Meta, Google, and other providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Those countries may have privacy laws different from those where you live.

Where required, we and our providers use recognized safeguards for international transfers.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when Word First's features, providers, or legal obligations change. The updated policy will display a new "Last updated" date.

For material changes, we may provide additional notice through the app, website, App Store listing, or another appropriate method. Where consent is required for a new practice, continued use alone will not replace legally required consent.
